As college admissions has become more and more competitive, schools have begun to turn to a much more holistic review of applications. At Apogee College Consulting, I will begin by walking you through the process of narrowing down your list of schools to which you intend to apply. From here, we’ll focus on creating an application that reflects the “whole person” as well as writing compelling college essays that help you stand out.

Writing college essays is difficult as students are asked to reflect on questions they may have never thought of before. My role is to help each student find suitable topics for his or her essays and then to refine those essays so as to focus on those issues and characteristics that the admissions committees are really looking out for. Rather than submitting your work to some “essay mill”, we’ll meet one-on-one to edit your material.

In addition to working with scores of students on their high school material, especially AP Lang and AP Litt, I’ve worked with over a thousand students on ways to improve their standardized test scores, leading to consistenly higher performance and giving them more confidence on test day. Instead of teaching tricks or short-cuts, I focus on real skills—critical reading, the principals of grammar, and essay writing.
