College Consulting

Introduction

Whether they are aware of it or not, from the moment that students enter high school, they are already making important decisions that will have some bearing on college admissions. While the first two years largely set the precedent for what is to come, it is the students’ junior and senior years that will largely dictate where they are able to end up going to university. Beginning in the fall of 2019, Apogee College Consulting will offer two different programs that target these pivotal years and provide each student with a clear plan of attack.

Junior Counseling Program

This service is for rising juniors and will ideally begin with the fall semester, tri, or quarter. Students and parents will be able to choose from a variety of packages that range from just a few hours to a more comprehensive hands-on approach. Many students will want to combine this with SAT and/or ACT test preparation so as to provide a balanced plan of attack during what will be a formative year. Academic, extra-curricular, and volunteer activities are crucial during this early stage so that a student is better able to present a strong application to his or her goal school(s). It will also be these experiences from which a student will draw when writing his or her application essays.

Junior Counseling Program

Senior Counseling Program

Seniors must begin by acknowledging any strengths and weaknesses in their academic profile. With this knowledge in mind, they must then determine the list of schools to which they intend to apply and begin the introspective process necessary to create intriguing college essays. As more schools begin to require letters of recommendation and brag packets, students will need to be aware of the best way to go about getting this together.

At Apogee, students and parents can choose from a number of highly competitive packages, whether one is trying to stay in state or get as far away as possible. I will walk the student through the entire application process during bi-weekly meetings. Essay guidance and editing will also take place during and outside these meetings according to a predetermined deadline schedule. Furthermore, I’ll be able to be reached either by phone or by email to answer any questions or concerns that the student might have during the process.
